Christmas Opening Times ( posted on Nov 29, 2017 )

The Surgery will be closed on the following days over the holiday period;

  • Monday, 25th December 2017
  • Tuesday, 26th December 2017
  • Monday, 1st January 2018

If you need to see a doctor or need advice urgently when the surgery is closed please phone 0300 5555252 between 6pm to 6.30pm and 111 the NHS out of hours service from 6.30pm to 8am.

When to use it

You should use the NHS 111 service if you urgently need medical help or advice but it's not a life-threatening situation.

 Call 111 if:

  • you need medical help fast but it's not a 999 emergency

  • you think you need to go to A&E or need another NHS urgent care service

  • you don't know who to call or you don't have a GP to call

  • you need health information or reassurance about what to do next

  • You can also access information via www.healthhelpnow-nhs.net . Health Help Now aims to help people find the right service in Kent and Medway for their health needs, especially when they need medical help fast but it is not a life-threatening emergency.

If a health professional has given you a specific phone number to call when you are concerned about your condition, continue to use that number.

For immediate, life-threatening emergencies, continue to call 999.

Late running appointments ( posted on Aug 1, 2017 )

Notice to patients

Please note that if you use the self check-in system at the surgery to check in for your appointment it will advise you if your Doctor or Nurse is running more than 20 minutes late.

Notice to patients ( posted on Jul 10, 2017 )

As you may be aware, Doctor Clive Thorpe retired on medical grounds in March 2017; from 1 May 2017 Doctor Karen Potterton and Doctor Sumindra Pun became partners in the practice.

Since then, we have been in the process of recruiting further GPs; this is not easy as there is a national shortage of doctors wanting to be a GP but we remain confident we will be successful in securing the right candidates very soon.  During this time we have engaged locums to see our patients.

We would also advise that Doctor Tim Winch is now on long planned for sabbatical leave until September 2017.

We would ask patients to please bear with us during this challenging time for the practice.

CYBER ATTACK ( posted on May 12, 2017 )

Please be aware that the practice, along with many other NHS providers, has been victim of a cyber attack. Our computer system has been closed down as a precaution and we have switched to a paper system in the meantime. We await further instruction about when we are able to switch back on. This means we are not able to access patient medical records, or view results etc, we do not have access to patient contact details. During this time we would ask for your patience. We will update our Facebook page with up to date advice when we are able.

DOCTOR CLIVE THORPE ( posted on May 2, 2017 )

May 2017

Dear Everyone

I write to confirm my retirement from General Practice on medical grounds.
I have been proud and privileged to have been a GP in Headcorn for 15 years.

Family doctors, through their central role, and through the continuity of care which they provide, remain the bedrock of the NHS. In our advocacy of our patients and their needs, we are fortunate to have the role of coordinating and organising further clinical care and services, accessing the excellence that the NHS has available. I have so fully enjoyed this role over the years, with all its multi-layered challenges.

I am sad and sorry to leave. The Surgery remains in very good hands for the future.

With very best wishes to you all for the many years ahead.

Yours Sincerely

Doctor Clive Thorpe
